Medieval towns and mountain hikes in the Himalayas
One of our dreams come true. We are on the trek around the Annapurnas. This hike is one of the finest
in the world and leads while on the Thorung La. This is one of the highest passes with 5416m which can be
crossed without special equipment.
On November 15, 2014 after a long walk, we did it. We are 12:15 clock on the Thorung La !! In glorious sunshine and great distance vision, we enjoy the view of this 5416 m high pass.
To get into the Everest region, there are two possibilities. You fly from Kathmandu to Lukla or you go
by bus to Jiri and trek from there on the Tenzing - Hillary - Trek in about a week to Lukla.
The Sir Edmont Hillary Airport in Lukla lies at about 2840m sea level, which is quite high and can cause
headaches and worse, especially if you continue climing up quickly. We will hike from Jiri, it should be
a very nice trek and we have time to get used to the altitude.
